Constant Learning

One of the best parts of Tyler’s job as a Tech II at LGESMI is the opportunity to continually learn and improve. “I want to get better, keep improving my quality,” he said. “I’m always looking for ways to improve, things to learn that help me to maintain my machine.”

Tyler has worked at LG Energy Solution for about 2 years in the Electrode Department. Before starting his career with LG, Tyler worked at a custom label printing company. Tyler was referred to LG by a former coworker who had recently joined LG’s team.

Overcoming Challenges

The biggest challenge in Tyler’s role is trouble-shooting the machines that he operates. “Multiple issues could be happening at once and you have to try to figure out what’s going wrong,” said Tyler. “I enjoy going to work because I’ve learned how to fix things myself. What used to be a 20 minute fix is now a 3 minute fix.”

One of Tyler’s proudest moments at LG involved overcoming those same trouble-shooting challenges. ”When I switched shifts I found an issue with the machine, figured out how to fix it and the company was able to save money because of it. Things like that make it a very enjoyable job.”

Beyond the pride Tyler takes in his job, he also appreciates the benefits that LG offers. “At any other job my motivation was always the income,” Tyler said. “Now I have enough, and the benefits are second to none. It’s the first job I can say I actually enjoy.”

For those considering a position or just starting out at LG, Tyler advises candidates and newcomers to give themselves time to learn the job well. “It can be hard at first and it takes a good 6 months to a year to learn it all. Work hard and you’ll get the hang of it.”
