May 21, 2024, Holland, Mich.- LG Energy Solution Michigan, Inc. has donated a total of $20,000 to the local fire and police departments in the City of Holland. The President of LG Energy Solution Michigan, Charles Hyun, presented the donation to Holland’s Chief of Public Safety Services, Matt Messer, at Kollen Park Fire Station in Holland, Michigan on May 16, 2024. Of the donation, $10,000 will be donated to Operation Home Safety, a program started by the fire department to assist community members and help fire emergency victims during the time of their recovery.

The company is also donating $10,000 to the Holland Police Department’s Community Policing Fund. This fund assists locals by giving officers an allowance to purchase items for those in need whom they encounter in the community. Local police officers will have the opportunity to purchase basic necessities for those who need them.

“We greatly appreciate the generosity of LG Energy Solution as they partner with us to invest in our community through our Community Policing Fund and Operation Home Safety Program,” said Matt Messer, City of Holland’s Chief of Public Safety Services. “Every dollar will be used to help support our community members by assisting with new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, home safety equipment, lodging for fire and crime victims, and a wide variety of day-to-day quality of life needs and necessities.”

“LG Energy Solution Michigan is proud to partner with Holland’s fire and police departments by supporting their important community-minded programs,” said Charles Hyun, LG Energy Solution Michigan President. “We are moved by their tireless efforts to go above and beyond and help those in need within the community.”

LG Energy Solution Michigan also supports other community causes and events including Community Impact Day through the West Coast Chamber, Tulip Time Festival, and other organizations.

The green company is currently in the process of a $2.7 billion expansion of its second plant at the Holland location and remains focused on a sustainable future. The new facility will significantly increase its lithium-ion battery manufacturing capacity and features state-of-the-art labs and testing facilities, as well as additional warehousing. The expansion is an investment in Michigan and will produce over one thousand well-paying technical jobs for locals and the surrounding area. Construction broke ground in 2022 and is expected to finish in 2024, and mass production is slated to begin in 2025.
